HAEi was able to raise awareness in the 6th ASID Congress held in Dakar, Senegal from the 11th to 13th April 2019. Awareness was raised among health care professionals who had come in from all over Africa. Awareness on hereditary angioedema and the challenges faced by patients and also by doctors in the diagnosis and management of this rare condition were highlighted. Patricia Karani who is the HAEi Regional Patient Advocate for Sub Sahara Africa and Dr. Priya Bowry from The Allergy Clinic in Nairobi, Kenya got to share these presentations in the congress meeting. ASID represents the Africa Society for Immunodeficiency.
